Health impacts caused by poor indoor air quality

Air Quality

The Air Quality demonstrates our expertise at the area of IoT.

Overview

In recent years there has been a growing awareness about the negative health impacts caused by poor indoor air quality. Good air quality in buildings is vital for people who spend much of the day indoors. We spend an average of 90 % of our time indoors, more than 20 hours in enclosed spaces. Indoor air quality does affect our health and therefore, badly managed air quality can have economic and legal implications.

  • Pollutants can cause or contribute to short and long-term health problems, including asthma, respiratory tract infections and allergic reactions etc.
  • Indoor air pollutants can cause discomfort, increase absenteeism and reduce productivity. Poor indoor air quality strains relationships among employees, family members, teachers and students.
  • Indoor air quality problems can result in litigation.

Indoor environment

Inteliments developed a solution to monitor and measure the indoor air quality. The device can be placed standalone, in a number of selected or every room in a building. Via a dashboard, the customer is able to view  in realtime the measurements per device or group of devices and see daily, weekly and monthly trends. Our solution can be integrated with existing climate control systems and enable individual room climate control.

The Collected data from all systems are being sent and are stored in big data nosql database. In parallel, the selected data are being processed according the algorithms carefully designed together with the customer and being in real time displayed on the web based dashboard.

Real time data monitor and statistics dashboard

  • communication technology is built on the latest IBM M2M standard connectivity protocol MQTT
  • any air quality sensor is monitored through one single user interface
  • any quality sensor is accessible through any device connected to the internet (tablet, PC, phone, etc.)
  • real time data are being published to Custom User Interface dashboard
  • statistics and algorithms are running on our servers

Sensor units

Protronix developed a senzor to measure Temperature, Humidity and Carbon Dioxide (CO2). The device is designed to operate independently for a view days on a power line.

Software and Infrastructure

Our platform is built on a software & hardware infrastructure that facilitates the storage, analysis and processing of the data received from all sensor units around the globe. The processed data are being translated into the valuable information displayed on the customer specific HTML5 dashboard in a real time. Next to the real time data, specific historical and cumulative information are being displayed on the very same dashboard. This all is powered by our own Inteliments platform.

Measured Air Quality System Parameters

  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Carbon dioxide

Information generated by our platform

  • Hourly, daily and monthly trends of the air quality
  • Reporting of direct measurements from monitoring stations
  • Integrate with legacy climate control system and optimize environmental per room, floor and building, based on the sensor measurements
